Bluesky was ready to make a BIG announcement. After years leading the way in aerial surveys, they were being acquired by global geospatial giants Woolpert.
But before going public, they needed a short film that told their story – who they are, what they do, and why this next step made perfect sense. It had to feel natural, honest, and very “Bluesky”. Oh, and it needed turning around fast. And in secret!
That’s where we came in. We’re used to tight timelines and tricky briefs, and this one had the added challenge of being kept under wraps until everything was official.
We spent a full day with the Bluesky team, kicking off with scripted autocue bits from the top team – including CEO Rachel Tidmarsh – filmed in a quiet corner of their Ashby HQ. We kept things relaxed and conversational, helping everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera.
After lunch, we filmed around the office – people chatting, collaborating, doing their thing – to give the video a real feel of the company’s culture. We even grabbed some sunny drone shots of the full team outside (cheers, weather gods).
In the edit, we tied it all together with a polished voiceover, archive footage, and a bit of music magic to reflect the heart and soul of Bluesky.
The final video was delivered bang on schedule – less than two weeks after filming – and was used to support the internal launch of the Woolpert acquisition. It introduced the Bluesky team to their new global colleagues and showed off the brilliant culture behind the tech.
The feedback was brilliant – Bluesky loved how natural and upbeat it felt, and it helped the team feel confident and positive about what comes next. A fast turnaround, a secret mission, and a proper team effort. That’s how we like it!
