The Crack Cocaine of Gambling

The Campaign for Fairer Gambling needed a promotional video that would clearly communicate the key points of their campaign in just a few minutes. The challenge? There was no script, no time for filming, and we only had access to their recent media appearances to work with. 

The Campaign for Fairer Gambling, a not-for-profit group, aims to ensure gambling is fair, open, and free from harm to vulnerable people or becoming a source of crime. They do this by gathering and publishing evidence, engaging with politicians, and rallying support. Given our past work with them on the Stop The FOBTs campaign, we had a good grasp of their goals and a strong relationship with their PR agency. This was an important issue that we wanted to support.

With no script or new footage, we relied on our storytelling skills in the editing suite. We gathered all the footage and photographs related to the campaign and gambling in the UK, crafting a script from comments made in these clips. 

We skillfully combined clips from Newsnight, BBC Breakfast interviews, and House of Commons debates, gradually forming a coherent narrative for the promotional video. To tie everything together, we incorporated edgy typography, adding a stylish coherence to the diverse film clips.

The final video effectively told the story of the Campaign for Fairer Gambling, capturing its essence and mission. Despite the initial challenges, the promotional video was a success, clearly conveying the campaign’s key points and engaging viewers with its polished and dynamic presentation.
