Hexagon is a big name in geospatial tools, and they wanted to show off their impressive CityMapper-2 airborne sensor with a case study video.
So, in collaboration with Bluesky (an aerial survey company that uses the sensor) and Nottingham City Council (who use the data the sensor gives them), they got in touch with us to see if we were up to the challenge (hint: we were!).
A project like this could easily get complicated – several stakeholders, lots of technical jargon and filming in airports (not the easiest of places to get into!)
Thankfully, none of this was a problem for us. Hexagon saw that we had a knack for making case study videos that are both informative and engaging, so we got stuck right in!
We kicked off pre-production by getting the story clear so all parties were happy with the outcome.
The story was that by combining Hexagon’s sensor and Bluesky’s data products, Nottingham City Council could get an unprecedented level of clarity on the city’s spatial dynamics, helping their urban planners make faster and better decisions. A nice, clear message that puts a spotlight on everyone.
We filmed over a few days at some pretty neat spots (I won’t get into the VIP area at Birmingham Airport again anytime soon!) as well as Bluesky’s head office and Nottingham City Council.
We kept things simple and interesting in the edit, letting the story and the tech do most of the storytelling. So we whipped up a compelling, benefit-packed video that everyone loved right off the bat—no major changes needed!
The final video has been a hit at events worldwide, showcasing the cool innovation and teamwork behind the project. Thanks to the great interviews we did, several other edits have also been made since. Hexagon, Bluesky, and Nottingham City Council were thrilled with how it all turned out, and we can’t wait to get back to the cockpit!
