YHA, a charitable organisation providing youth hostel accommodation in England and Wales since 1930, faced a crucial challenge.
Safeguarding young people is a top priority for them, and they needed an effective way to help their staff recognise the signs of abuse, neglect, and bullying among the young people who use YHA services.
They decided that a drama film would be the best medium to tackle this sensitive subject, and with our extensive experience in producing impactful drama films, Boxset Media was the perfect fit for the job.
Our scriptwriting team rolled up their sleeves and got to work, collaborating closely with YHA to develop a series of characters that truly reflect the diverse group of young people who stay at YHA locations.
Filming took place in the stunning Castleton hostel in Derbyshire, and we brought in local youth acting groups, ensuring the film had an authentic and relatable feel.
The feedback from YHA was overwhelmingly positive, with staff praising the film for its realism and effectiveness. The film not only raised awareness but also sparked important conversations and training sessions.
