DFN Project SEARCH help young people with learning disabilities and autism into meaningful employment. They got in touch with us because they needed a video that was going to showcase the impact of the programme in a short, succinct way for use across conferences, events and their website. As the film involved interviewing young people with learning disabilities and autism, it was important the filming approach felt calm, supportive and sensitive throughout. DFN Project SEARCH knew Boxset Media could handle those conversations thoughtfully, helping contributors feel comfortable and confident on camera without the process feeling overwhelming.
We captured everything in one day in Liverpool during one of DFN Project SEARCH’s Youth Advisory Group meetings, where young people involved with the charity came together to share ideas and help shape the future of the programme. A big part of the day was capturing interviews with the young people themselves. We always take a calm and supportive approach to interviews, but it was especially important for this. The team were really impressed with how we asked questions, listened carefully and helped contributors feel completely at ease on camera. Because of that, we came away from the filming day with loads of honest, powerful content that gave us everything we needed to create a genuinely impactful film.
In the edit, we brought together everything we captured in Liverpool with existing footage supplied by the DFN team, all styled around the charity’s branding so everything looked and felt consistent. The final film came together quickly and was delivered well ahead of the DFN Project SEARCH conference. The film received really positive feedback on the day and has now given the charity a flexible piece of content they can continue using across their website, social channels and future events.
