How To Reduce Your Video Production Budget

Over the years, every video production budget has become tighter as marketing spend is stretched further. Money that a few years ago would have gone towards a video production project is now being split across social media, pay-per-click, search engine optimisation, public relations and more. Of course, you don’t want a single penny of any marketing spend to go to waste, any marketing endeavour especially an investment such as corporate video projects are expected to bring in a substantial return on investment.  To make that happen, it’s vital that every penny that is put into the project is well spent.

We work with a number of design agencies, events organisers, PR companies and more on video projects large and small. Of those projects that may have slightly tighter budgets, we often collaborate very closely with our client with some parts of the production process being shared. This not only helps the creative process massively, but can also help reduce costs.

So how can you get the most from your video production budget? We’ve got three key tips that will set you up for success.

1. Focus on Pre-Production

The value of pre-production cannot be stated enough, especially in regards to your video production budget. By planning out the most important details of your project well in advance — especially the script — our Nottingham video production team is better prepared to meet your needs. We have a fantastic script writing team who are adept at writing all kinds of corporate video scripts as well as thoroughly researching each project. However, on occasion we may work with a more hands-on client who prepares a rough script in advance. They have be an experienced copywriter or have previous experience in producing promotional videos. Whichever it is, having this close collaboration so early on helps us understand fully what is needed from the project and gets the project up to speed quicker.

Providing a video production brief in advance can be instrumental in ensuring that your money doesn’t go to waste too. Your detailed plans help us know exactly what you need to accomplish with your video shoot so we can get it taken care of quickly and effectively while keeping you under budget.

2. Bulk Up Your Video Production

Economies of scale can play an integral role in reducing your long-term video production costs. After all, the more you can film in a single session, the more material you already have on hand for future video needs — and the less you need to spend.

Shooting a short 30-second video for your Facebook page? Save time and money by shooting several in the same day. Filming an event? In addition to filming the event itself, record interviews with customers for use in future video production projects! We’ve done this a number of times before for clients and the extra thought in advance to plan the shoot and what content can be got out of the day has always been worth it. We even managed to make nearly 20 films out of a single day filming at a trade show! Not bad going! With a bit of foresight, you can get more out of your budget with effective time management.

3. Take Advantage of Social Media

There isn’t much point in producing an impressive video if nobody outside your office will ever see it. Using every relevant channel to share your video is an essential part of helping you recoup the cost of production. Sharing your video on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites will generate increased traffic to your website, which in turn will result in valuable sales and leads for your company.

This has never been easier. With services like Buffer and Hootsuite allowing you to schedule social media posts in advance, you only need to spend an hour or so in advance setting it up, and you’re ready to go!

A few places you can post from in one click include:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook (profile, page and groups)
  • LinkedIn (profile and page)
  • Google Plus page
  • WordPress blogs.
  • Instagram profiles.
  • YouTube channels

Best of all, there is little to no cost involved in this process, allowing you to further reduce the overall expenses of your video production.

By implementing these strategies, you can ensure that you get the most from your video production budget, no matter how tight it is!
